Carmine Carapella is a licensed architect working on traditional residential architecture, preservation and urbanism in Europe and the USA. Born in Italy and educated in Rome Italy, Aachen Germany and the USA at the University of Notre Dame, Carmine Carapella strives to bring Italian design quality to each and every project. His predilection for historic Architecture began during his undergraduate studies. The exposure to the existing historic buildings of Rome gave him a deep respect for the immortal qualities of Classical Architecture.
His undergraduate studies in Italy at the University of Rome emphasized history of architecture and Historical preservation, and his graduate course work at the University of Notre Dame concentrated on traditional Architecture and Urban Planning. From 1997 – 1999, Carmine Carapella was a teaching assistant at the University of Notre Dame, being responsible for design and drawing classes. Previously he worked as a teaching assistant for the architectural composition class at the Universita La Sapienza in Rome. Carmine Carapella works as an architect and designer as well as a consultant on preservation and planning projects. During his employment at Devlin Architecture Carmine Carapella was honored with a number of design awards over the last few years. Both in 2007 and 2008 he was the recipient of the Gold Medal “Craftsmanship Award” from the Ashville Home Builders Association. In 2007 he received the “Award of Excellence in Design” from the City of Virginia Beach Planning Commission. In 2009 he received the “Golden Trowel Award” from the “International Masonry Institute” for the Orr’s Jewelers store in Pittsburgh. In 1999 he was one of the finalists of the EUROPAN III, Spain.
His work has been published and exhibited at the international venue “Buildings by Hand: The Design Process through Drawing” at the Prince of Wales Foundation in London, UK.

Through both his formal international education and professional experience Carmine Carapella has acquired a broad range of architectural skills. His construction experience incorporates a combination of design and production responsibilities for a wide range of projects including retail stores, custom residential homes, offices and urban planning.
