Local 636 chapter of the International Brotherhood of Teamster’s wanted to remodel their existing headquarters located in McKees Rocks, PA. The design includes a completely re-worked street elevation, new entry lobby, and re-worked layout for office spaces. The result, though simple and modern in appearance, subtly hearkens back to the era of craftsmanship, with detailed brick and stone work and custom made steel accents by local fabricators. The switch from brick to stone on the exterior was done to signify the two primary interior zones, the public union meeting hall and the private offices. The building stands out in its community, both in an architectural sense, and as a beacon of pride for union workers.
